OUR STORY

40+ Year Family-Owned Business

Northside Garden Center is a true family business.  In the fall of 1984, Jim and Lyn started a garden center, having already been in the fencing business for years. Our customers have watched us grow literally from the ground up. We started with the basic building and one greenhouse. After digging and hauling tons and tons of dirt, the facility now covers over 5 acres.

ABOUT NORTHSIDE GARDEN

The Donaldson's sons, Jamie and Turk, have been here every step of the way, helping build the business from the ground up. Over the years, we have added lots more inventory and now feel we can meet the needs of most gardeners and landscapers. Most trees and shrubs we sell come from distributors and growers; however, we do grow most of our flowers ourselves. During the winter months we pot up thousands of bare root perennials, make over 2500 flats of annuals, 2000 hanging baskets, thousands of roses, hundreds of color bowls, and thousands of geraniums. By growing our own we can assure that our customers are getting top quality plants at a reasonable price. In addition to all of this, you will find mulch, rock, soil, insecticides, fertilizers, and more.

In 2010, we decided to expand our brand and open a feed department. We now have over 1500 square feet of horse/livestock feed and supplies; pet food; animal health products; and trailers full of feed hay.

In January 2017, we lost our patriarch Jim. Shortly thereafter, Ms. Lyn retired. We're keeping it in the family with their grandkids joining the team. We hope our customers will always feel the relaxed, family-oriented atmosphere they've helped us create by supporting us for 4 decades.

YOUR HOMETOWN GROWER

WHILE EVERYONE IS HOLED UP INSIDE, KEEPING WARM DURING WINTER, WE ARE HARD AT WORK. WE SPEND MONTHS POTTING UP THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF ANNUAL AND PERENNIAL FLOWERS, AS WELL AS ROSES. YOU'LL NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE IN QUALITY AND PRICE COMPARED TO THE BIG BOX STORES.
